Farm Sales & Auctions
G & S Scott, Mitford Steads
SALE REPORT
Trade for farm machinery flying despite the pandemic.
It is often said that the farming sector reacts in the opposite direction to the general economy of the country. Nothing could be more true of agriculture than the trends we are seeing for Spring 2021 moving into Summer harvest season. A loosening of Coronavirus restrictions has allowed live sale auctions and dispersal sales to be conducted again on farm and the results speak for themselves.
Shortage of main dealer supply of new machinery due to factory shutdowns over the past year has meant that the demand for good quality second hand machinery has reached almost unprecedented levels. This shortage coupled with unforeseen buoyant post Brexit livestock and commodity prices has really put a spring in the step of buyer’s and their cheque books.
On Saturday 5th of June Richard Brown and Partners conducted an on farm ‘live’ auction on behalf of G & S Scott at Mitford in Northumberland. This genuine retirement sale was a prime demonstration of market confidence. Well attended with buyers from all over the UK and Ireland, farmer interest for individual items was challenged and matched by trade interest and many items sold well in excess of pre-sale estimates.
